New Smyrna Beach Looking Down Flagler Avenue

The first time I went to New Smyrna Beach I loved it. Here are my ten reasons why everyone should visit New Smyrna Beach:

  1. The town is beautiful. There are lots of shops, restaurants and rentals. There are huge beautiful trees and one main road, Flagler Ave which goes right through downtown and ends at the beach. There are shops for all your needs.  Flagler Avenue alone has , clothing stores, restaurants, gifts shops and a few places to rent everything from golf carts, surf boards and bikes to paddle boards.

  2. You can drive on the beach. I love this because you can drive down Flagler Avenue and right onto the beach. For only five dollars you can drive down the beach, park your car for the day and relax. It is perfect because you don’t have to carry all your beach things, you can just unload them out of your car and right on to the beach.
  3. There are convenient beach rentals. This is great because you can rent umbrellas, beach chairs and even surf boards, boogie boards and paddle boards. There are even a few vendors so you can buy ice cream, drinks or food. If you want a full meal though, you can just go to one of the many restaurants on Flagler Avenue.
  4. The sand is beautiful. This just adds to the perfectness of the beach. The sand is a perfect white and is so soft that when you lie on it it is like lying on a bed. Another great thing about the sand is that it doesn’t get hot. It gets nice and warm but not so hot that it burns your feet like some beaches.
  5. The ocean water is a perfect temperature. I will admit, I hate going into cold water. I don’t have that problem at New Smyrna Beach though. The Atlantic doesn’t disappoint and is a perfect 80 degrees in summer Fahrenheit. I love going into the water, it is one of my favorite things about New Smyrna!
  6. There are great waves with 4 to 5 feet waves on most days. This is perfect for me because I love surfing. The waves are perfect for it! They are not to far out in the water that you have to be an amazing swimmer but they are far enough out that it is still perfect for little kids who like to play in shallow, safer water.  Great for Boogy boarders as well.
  7. There are nice people. This is an obvious thing that you will notice right way. Whenever you go into a shop there is always someone ready to help you. Everyone on the beach is amazing to. Life guards are always ready to help and locals are friendly and welcoming!
  8. Beach side condos. They are amazing! The condos are right on the beach but not right in the town. What’s great about it though is that even though the condos are not exactly in the town, which I love because then they are not towering over the town, the condos are less than a two minute walk away!  It keeps downtown New Smyrna Beach quaint and yet offers an abundance of accommodations a short walk up or down the beach.
  9. There are life guards along the beach near Flagler Avenue. They are friendly, nice and always there. They have anything you need. First aid with  bandages and splints or just a band aid for the little ones, and they can always answer any questions you have. They are always happy to help with whatever you kneed to know.
  10. There is lots of amazing wild life. You can see where they have marked off certain areas of the dunes where you are not allowed to walk in order to protect the turtle eggs under the sand. It is also very common to see dolphins swimming through the waves. On one occasion I was swimming in the same waves as them!

I loved New Smyrna Beach! That is where I go every time I go to the beach!
